Representations of the police
What represnetations of the police are available in current television output.
We seem to be obsessed with crime dramas and real-life shows on TV (schedules analysis here). But why? Do we need reassurance that crime doesn't pay? Do we want to live out a vicarious life as a criminal? And what do the range of representations of police and criminals tell us about the programmes' (and our culture's) attitudes to justice, law and order, criminals etc.
